Cutting privet twice a year is sufficient to keep its shape but if you want a thick, dense hedge, trimming it more regularly while maintaining its shape will encourage thick bushy growth. ❤

I have a small one I bought last year. It was on sale at Walmart, super dry and crusty. Right now it looks beautiful and has new growth. I just trimmed it yesterday making it into a tree. Let’s see how it goes! Love yours!!!

I have a privet hedge and not sure why the leaves are dropping (literally all of them) one plant at a time. Once all leaves drop the plant is left bare and doesn’t grow anymore. It seems like it’s spreading. Any ideas what could be the cause? Thank you.

How do you get these bloody things to grow thicker at the bottom. Mines is bare and thick branches at the bottom, no smaller ones. All my neighbours seem to grow fine, yet mines not. So all the crap from round about blows underneath and into my garden.
