While Pokémon is a series that appeals to children, this video specifically is not, and covers the series from a perspective and style that is not “made for kids.” As such, this video is accurately labeled “Not for kids” under the COPPA act.

Kanto is spring, Hoenn is summer, Johto is fall, Sinnoh is winter

I don't know how to explain this but Johto is my heart and serenity.

I think what gravitates a lot of people to Johto is not just the nostalgia, but also because there's this sense of intimacy and humbleness to the region. As well as an underlying message about the passage of time. Johto is a region that showcases how the old ways of the past can co-exist with the new and modern world. Which has a lot of meaning towards it because the Gen 2 games were released around the year 2000, which was the start of a brand new millennium. This is further showcased with how much Kanto and the returning characters changed, and your final battle with Red - who's essentially your old self.
Johto has this mysterious charm to it that draws both me and other fans in, that no other game in the franchise has rivaled since. And this is coming from someone whose favorite region is Unova.

Soul Silver has so much sentimental value to me. I had big-ass anxiety for about 2 years starting in Grade 8, and was having a particularly brutal week at this exact time of year, the beginning of October. My dad figured a change of scenery could help, so he took me to our cottage, just me and him. And he just bought me this game on a whim in a Walmart on the way there, which he never did with games. It was my first pokemon game and I loved it so much and was finally able to feel relaxed and distracted from my anxiety when playing it that weekend. I always associate fall with the awesome soundtrack of soul silver, and listen to it a lot during this time of year. It's cool that this video came out basically at the same time of year I started playing this game

I also loved how you were able to actually walk with your Pokemon, you feel like an absolute champ whenever you run around the city and a Groudon is following you.

My dream is for a gen 4 remake done right, like they did with HeartGold and SoulSilver.

No generation hits you so deep in the feels as Johto it’s like the equivalent antidote for anxiety words can’t describe how much this game shaped me as a person

In my miserable childhood these games were a shining hope. Ill forever hold G&S in a special spot in my heart.

Game Freaks: *We're giving you 2 regions in 1 in this game!*
Pokemon fans: *Cool! Thanks for setting the precedent*
Game Freaks: *laughs in never doing it again*

I'm sad that you won't be revisiting this series anytime soon, but satisfied with what you gave us. Thank you

Gen 4 was really the golden age for me, and not just for the games. Gen 3 and Gen 5 are also great, but I feel like it fell off after Gen 5. Sun and moon was pretty good but they’re the only ones I really enjoyed as pokemon games but other than that Gen 3-5 was really when Pokémon was at its best

I'd say the true appeal of the G/S/C games and the Johto region in general is because of two things: Johto's overall theme is a balanced mix between tradition and modernity. And Iwata's (RIP) brilliant programming skills that tied in both the new generation of players at the time with the Gen 1 veterans by bringing back an older version of Kanto.

That's why no other modern Pokemon game, in my opinion, managed to capture that achievement in G/S/C and later in HG/SS.

The DS era Pokemon games were so good, can we go back to that instead of the wave of mediocrity we are getting now from the Pokemon company.

Pokemon Crystal was the first pokemon game I ever played when I was 9. I thought pokemon was dumb before then. I found the cartridge in a dresser. I have no idea how it got there and I never bought it, it was just there. I played it, picked Cyndaquil, and I'm nearly 26 now and still love pokemon ❤️ I love this video.

I think the contrast of the legendaries was really cool in this gen. The legendary beasts and the Tower Duo really felt like they belonged to the same region but had different characteristics.

I used to come home from school as a 9 year old and try to figure out the secrets behind the towers in Ecruteak, and explore every inch of the Lake of Rage... I'm 20 now and most of my entertainment comes from getting people mad on the internet. Where does the time go.

Johto is just beautiful and the remakes improved on an already brilliant core game. Things like the companion Pokemon, the 2 regions in 1 game, Red being the final boss, the ability to change the track to the classic one by using an item and the newly established connection to Sinnoh really showcase how much thought and love was put into these games. Another amazing tidbit is Silver's Golbat. When you fight him at Mt. Moon his entire team is fully evolved except for his Golbat. When he teams up with you against Clair and Lance and is subsequent rematches he has a Crobat, indicating that he learned how to be kind to his Pokemon and showing his character development.

Johto walked so that Sinnoh could run. Only to be slown down by Kalos and forced to a complete stop by Galar.
