Im 30. I was in middle and high school when ANTM was popular.

I had a best friend, who was starving herself because she wanted to be a model. She wouldn't go swimming without a workout routine first. We were 16. It was so sad. She literally had a body that other girls dreamed of. That boys drooled over.

I ended up telling her mom about how she was starving herself and I lost her as a friend. I hope as an adult she can see that I loved her and cared for her.

Whenever I think of Tyra all I remember is that awful moment on Top Model where that one sweet girl talked about how much she loved her super long hair and how long it took to grow and all these things about it and Tyra said “shave it all off 😈” for absolutely no reason other than to tear that poor beautiful girl down and make her feel lesser than Tyra, she would always go after the most confident ones viciously trying to tear them down

I stopped liking Tyra some years ago when, in a video, she visited a manicurist shop to get her nails done. She brought her entourage, plus camera people. The staff stood watching while the chosen manicurist started. Tyra told her to wait; she wanted to inspect the girl’s hands first. In front of everyone, and the camera people, Tyra berated the girl for having longer nails than Tyra liked working on hers. She told the girl her nails were not tidy or clean enough to work on Tyra’s; SHE had standards, and to go away. In front of everyone and on camera. The girl was mortified. I was disgusted with Tyra’s behaviour.
