Sometimes I have to install new operating system in my computer Windows or OS X, after that dropbox doesn't want to work with existing directory and wants to make new one. How to solve that problem? In this tutorial I show simple solution.

Thank you very much for this video. I can confirm this technique works. I had an existing 2TB (almost full) Dropbox folder in an external SSD to connect after formatting my disk, and your technique worked perfectly. After about two hours verifying the local files, Dropbox was fully synced in my macOS running Ventura. Saved me days of re-downloading the full 2TB. Thanks again, you made my day ;)

yes this worked for me also ! thank you. rename your existing folder "old" and then allow dropbox to create a new folder. once that happens, and you are able to, pause syncing, then go copy all your "old" content into the new folder, and resume syncing ! it does take forever, so be patient

I can't pause once I start moving locations. Did they disable that maybe?

Does this method re-download ? If not, why does it take so long just to reindex?
