The secret to reversing is to reverse and hope nothing is in your way😂😂😂😂.

Reverse in my car needs way LESS gas to get moving than my 1st gear does. On basically flat ground I can reverse with no gas pedal being pushed at all. To decrease stress on my clutch I usually release to the bite point and then ride the brake pedal and release the clutch completly and then I use slight gas as needed for power while riding the brake to control speed. Just the way I'm comfortable doing it. Always be careful and mind your surroundings.

You don't need gas while reversing. Infact, reverse is the most powerful gear so clutch is only required. However, when there is upward slope you might need gas. Also, Slipping the clutch is preferred since using this, you can control speed of car meaning at Bite point your car will start to reverse and if you want to reduce the speed/ maneuver the car much better, keep the clutch fraction below biting point to reduce speed.

I'm just getting a manual car and forcing myself to learn otherwise I can't drive anywhere

I can't even remember the last time I drove far enough in reverse to remove my foot from the clutch pedal. Pulsing the power and coasting is definitely the way to go.

"You want to protect your car and others around you..." *mumbles under breath* unless your in a mustang;)

I launched the car backwards thinking the same method from going forward worked for reverse and I flew backwards.

I just needed to point out that you should NEVER have your floormat interfering with your gas pedal like in this video. Seems like common sense to me.

I usually ride the clutch for like a couple seconds while reversing and works perfectly for me. I know it's bad, but thats how i taught myself.

lol I remember the first time I learned to park with a manual, it was hell on earth

I remember I would slowly release the clucth and I didn't even accelerated, that way I stalled the car.

And other times, I would violently accelerate and release the clutch so fast I also had to press brakes really hard not to to crash into another car

Man this really helped.I always stalled when I went in reverse. A pain in the @$$ is what it was

You have the best videos! I watched them before I took my driving test and the instructor was so impressed. I only stalled when I accidentally put it in 3rd instead of first. Thank you!

Usually I'll leave my clutch about 1/2 to 2/3 engaged and blip the throttle a few times to get the car moving back into a parking spot (or out). This is probably because my car (an '07 Corolla) has a jumpy drive by wire throttle that makes precise throttle inputs difficult at times.

when did driving a manual become "rocket science".

When I reverse with my car I just slowley release the clutch and the car moves by itself without actually pressing the gas pedal does that apply to most cars too ?

it would be great if you teach the way to park in narrow spots

In my car, when reversing on a FLAT road, I don't need to give throttle; simply releasing the clutch will work. Of course clutch control is needed when reversing slowly such as when bay parking or parallel parking.
On the contrary, when launching forward from stationary, I need to give a bit throttle in order to prevent stalling.
