I have to disagree with the toss out wide ties... I have vintage Italian ties that are wider than you recommended, but they are incredibly beautiful, historical and conversation pieces. Also, the tie should be proportional to lapel and spread of the shirt collar. So if you wear the proper shirt, and wide lapel suit jacket, a wide tie will look beautiful.

It is always good to get a women's point of view on mens fashion albeit extremely subjective. I see nothing wrong with some of the items i.e. lapel pins, and colored shoelaces. I see Ashley is not a big fan of trendy things, at least past the 6-8 month point of the trend. At the end of the day, wear what makes you feel good.

People need to understand these are general guidelines and obviously there are exceptions in style to every rule. This video is to help those with with not a fully developed sense of style and are good guidelines to follow to look up to date. Eventually once you get comfortable with your own style you can start to branch out and break some of these rules but it’s easy to fuck it up.

Disagree about tie width. It should come close to matching your lapel width. Therefore classic suits with 3.5 inch lapels look best with 3.25 inch ties. Skinny ties less than 2.5 inches are super trendy and make you look like a child.
