AutoCAD 2D - Calculate areas (2 methods - easy and fast way)

This video explains how to calculate an area in autocad 2D.

-Calculate area by drawing the boundary 0:08
-Calculate an internal area of an object (polyline or region) 0:59

I need to calculate the area of a drawing of a wall, in a house with scale set to (1/4" = 1'). I have multiple lines that make it up so how to I calculate that area? I tried to "group" them and then calc it but i cant figure out how to get the exact area in square feet.

I am using Bricscad.. One thing I need to do is calculate the Gross Internal Area (GIA) of a floor plan. However, Some of the rooms have been "Knocked down" I.e parts of the building no longer exist. My floor plans are very large so manually drawing a new polyline around the perimeter (Boarder) is very difficult, time-consuming and not going to be accurate. Is there a simple way that Cad in my case Bricscad can simly trace the outline of all my remainin sapces. Any help much appreciated. Thank you

We activate command area, with the method you already shown, and we have a number. Is possible this number to be shown underneath the name of the room or we have to insert it as a text?
