I don't think I could have said it any better than what you did about the collecting aspect of Pokemon TCG. I've been collecting since I was a kid, and like you, I fell off in the Ruby/Sapphire era. I only picked up where I left off again when I came across a certain Professor opening up Evolutions ;) I only collect cards that to me have sentimental value and bring joy into my life. I'm glad we're getting a boom in the TCG once again, so I thank you :)

I got back into Pokemon after a medical issue too. In 2013 my kidney got blocked and infected and wasn’t treated quickly enough and it went septic, where the infection went into my blood stream and nearly killed me, the hospital was honest with me and told me I was being rushed to emergency surgery because I only had minutes left to live and I went to sleep not knowing if I would ever open my eyes again. I spent 17 days in the hospital and 14 of them were in the ICU. While I was sick and stuck at home a lot after leaving the hospital I started reviewing products for companies and got invited to review pokemon and having been away for so long I knew nothing about the current tcg and went to yt to watch videos and read up on it and became obsessed with the art and whole fandom again, thats how I found almost all the channels for pokemon that I watch. It really got me through not only the physical struggle but the mental stress of missing everything and being sick for years, its brought me a ton of happiness.

I absolutely agree with you on the collecting thing. I started collecting again cause I needed a little happiness at that moment and pokemon was always that thing that made me happy. We couldn't afford to get pokemon cards a lot when I was a kid so I missed out on a bunch of sets so it feels great to be able to buy my own stuff now. Also the art in this set is incredible! I can see a lot of these cards going into my binder.

Everything you speak in this video is true. I decided to get back into it just before the “big boom” that’s been going on lately and that’s thanks to you and Jiggly you guys made it look exciting and fun just to sit back and open cards and try and collect the cool cards and taking the commons back in to get more cards. I still don’t have a clue about the sets and what not but that just means I can go and buy any sets at any store and just enjoy the art work and if I find something worth a few bucks cool if not it’s a nice relaxing hobby that if I don’t feel like spending money on I don’t have to and if I have a few bucks I can buy a pack here and there. Thank you for welcoming me into the community the last few weeks it’s definitely been enjoyable!

My two sense on the whole collector vs resale is that yeah I totally get selling cards to pay the bills, but what bothers me is when certain products come out and it’s nearly impossible to get. I just now turned sixteen and have a job. All I wanted to use my birthday money on was some champions path but I can’t justify paying the prices people want. At the end of the day Pokémon is for everyone, but it’s a “kids” game.
Pokémon has done so so much for me. I’ve met so many amazing people, and grown a collection of cards
