Love, love, Love this!!! I used keyboard shortcuts in FCP 7 so much.  Thank you for this video and guest, guys!

To his G+H suggestion, I found that mapping 'trim to playhead' to D is ideal for trimming, left hand on D key, right hand on mouse (or not! Just let the film play and hit D cutting to the beat!). My other favorite shortcut has been ` opening the inspector, CNTRL` opening scopes, and OPT` opening color corrections - the way OPT and CNTRL lays out visually and tactilely (is that the word) in the same way it pops up onscreen :)

Very good tips, as always guys. And for all those edtiors using a german keyboard, you trim the end of a clip with the ß key, the beginning with ü, and both sides with #
Cheers!

If I'm not mistaken, you had to use the mouse to select the edit point to go into "Trim Mode." Using [, ], and \ allows you to change which side (head or tail, or both) you're editing, but there's no keyboard command to jump into FCPX's "trim mode" like in AVID is there?

I'm an AVID editor accustomed to AVID's Dynamic Trimming and changing to FCPX has been a bit rough.

shift what to select audio only please?  Slash?  Forward or reverse. Not clear audio sorry?

Great stuff, but it would have been nice to enable key recording

shift tab does not work for me.  Opens the clip name in event browser.

Tab and shift tab simply do not have that function for me.

maybe it's a UK/US keyboard thing?
