Staphylococci are genera of bacteria that are gram positive cocci, arrange in irregular grapelike clusters, and Catalase positive.
Staphylococci contain more than 50 species but 3 species are medically important.
On the base of Coagulase test Staphylococci are divided into coagulase positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and coagulase negative staphylococci (CONS) that includes; Staphylococcus saprophyticus and Staphylococcus epidermidis.
