it's confusing to the consumer when companies say a cooler like the Noctua D15 is rated at 230w yet a V8 GTS is rated the same but absolutely beasts it in terms of performance.

Hey. I saw your latest episode of the flash. It was awesome

Glad Deepcool made a high end cooler. Their budget / mid-range offerings are some of the best. Rocking a Gammaxx 400 on my 2600x.

Think you’ll be getting a CPU cooler upgrade soon?? Leave a comment!

Nice to see some space between towers. On my D14 I just placed the standard 140mm behind the second tower and they push both through into the center. Two Antec Big Boys suck the air away.
It's very dusty and NT01 from 2011 has never been replaced. Still, a i7 2600k @4.4ghz went from 67 to 60 while gaming. No air conditioning.

The PCCooler GI-R68X (with 6 x 8mm pipes) claims 300W TDP. That seems a greater claim than the 280W TDP of the Deepcool Assassin III.

Nice bench but you didnt add the ram degrees if effected by the coolers and how much there is one cooler that beats the assassin3 cus he cools the ram too

Thanks for the great review.
But I really doubt the results @4:50 is incorrect for Noctua NH-U12A?

Great review! What shocked me, though, was the performance of the U12A. A single 120mm tower (admittedly with probably the best fans on the market) that came within 1 degree of the Assassin III's load performance? Incredible. Dark Rock 4 also seriously impressive, bit warmer (2-3C or so) but notably quieter than the Assassin III and U12A.

I'm sorry but 140w is not testing anything, you need to test these coolers with a lot more heat to see proper results.

Seems nice, but I would love to see a vs between this cooler and the noctua NH-D15 which is at $90 in Amazon at the time of writig this.

Miss seeing the line-plot of temps vs noise to see where the diminishing returns kick in.

Thanks for this review...;) Assassin III has very similar performance compared to noctua D15 (noctua is still best performer)...but you need heavily overclocked CPU to start seeing difference

Still using the Scythe Mugen 5 on all my builds since it's only $44.99.

what was your ambient temperature?

also what was the voltage on the cpu?
i have the same processor and cooler but mine is pushing past 79c
Could it be bad thermal paste application?

That is one nice cooler. Great review!

Mine is coming in today! I had to get rid of my crappy AIO I have never liked or trusted water cooling. I had the cooler master ML360 AIO. Will never go back to an AIO unless they stop making just as good air coolers. I am getting the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4 for my AMD Ryzen 3800X.

Id like to see a comparison with the NH-D15 wich is a cooler of the same type, it performing about the same as the NH-U12 that is a lower tier cooler makes me think the NH-D15 is still the king of air coolers.

That is an absolute monster of a air cooler... It might not fit in my deepcool matrexx 70 case.
