This is related to one of the axioms I’ve developed in life. People will tend to do what they have done before, then they will do what they see others doing, and finally they will do what actually makes sense. People fail because they never realize that what they are doing isn’t working, or that what they see other people doing isn’t working, and don’t put in the work to actually come up with the right solution/behavior.

I actually resisted what I really loved. And since I didn’t know what to do with myself, I joined the military. I didn’t come from a military family. I’d checked that box on a pamphlet on my own as it was just information gathering

I was still waffling on what art major I wanted to pursue when I got the knock

My parents were over the moon. I was suddenly GI Jane and the couldn’t have been more proud of me.

By the time I got out, I was more laser focused: I want to not be far from my family. Ok, instate university. I bounced from major to major all adjacent to my true passion until I discovered my third and final major my second year completely on accident and happenstance.

25 years later and I’m still doing multiple things that I love

I kind of do believe that a gap year or three is beneficial to actually discover more about yourself, get some more growing up, before you commit to a career. I don’t mean backpacking abroad necessarily. But, Peace Corp, volunteer full time at a nonprofit, do community classes

It took me four years after graduating high school to get clarity

We imitate three groups in particular.
We imitate
1.The Close
2.The Many
3.The Powerful

Interesting though here: it is the same with how we dress or behave among other people. Mark, if it wouldn't ruin your video schedule, could you maybe upload a video about the constant need of validation in today's society?

That's true, I had a huge existential crisis back in the day because there was a gap between what I thought was worth and important, and what others thought, and it wasn't that easy to just break free...

I definitely suffer from this. It’s hard to be creative, original, or even useful with everybody constantly telling you what to think

This is spot on.
I became a lawyer because I didn't know what I wanted to do, and then it took me a good number of years until I figured out what I want to do with my life. I started my business and have never looked back since...😊

Money I want money and more of it. That's the over all defining factor in life. You need money to do anything . That's what you want

In other words, what is important to you? Is that something you think is important. Or did someone tell you it's important to you.

Humans are adaptive machines. Opportunities are ultimately defined by the environment first and the person second.

The lawyers, the plumbers, the scientists, the people who build roads... The work needs to get done, whether or not anyone personally wants to do it.

We can indulge in endless navel gazing once AI and robots take over all the meaningful work that actually needs to be done.

Sounds like many people are codependent.
