Many design engineers have often shied away from the avalanching MOSFETS in their designs due to fears around performance and reliability of their system. Whereas most vendors don’t show how to avalanche safely, Nexperia has added avalanche specific graphs to alleviate these fears.

Join Nandor in this video as he walks through a Nexperia datasheet and explains key technical parameters design engineers should consider when using these products in repetitive avalanche.

Very useful video, Thanks a lot!
Where is the value of 5 coming from for Rth(j-amb)?
In the datasheet of BUK9K52 one can find Rth(j-mb) with 4.68 K/W and Rth(j-a) with 95 K/W.
4.68 is very near to the 5 K/W for Rth(j-amb) of the video, which does not exist in the datasheet. Only Rth(j-mb) is described as the thermal resistance between junction and mounting base.
What is Rth(j-amb)?

Hello, thanks for the content. Could you please comment on why we consider Tj(ins) as 30C. Is it always taken as 30 C initial ?
