I got a friend that works on amps and he was working on a soldano and needed a new transformer called Mike and Mike looked around and sent him the transformer. We need more guys like Mike.

Captain Lee: please get Mike over to the UK. I'm proud to know Mike, and to call him a friend - he is every bit as cool as he seems in this interview. I know he truly wants to get out and travel a lot more, now that he's semi-retired. You should do a "Captain Meets" with him - and I know he'd love visiting your part of the world (I know I did.)

P.S. It was an honor to meet you and Pete @ the Thorpy stand this year. Thanks for posing with me for a photo.

Cheers!

Have a decatone at my house right now
that is my absolute favorite amp ever

Make the SLO 30 switchable to ~5 watts, price it at $1k or below, and you'll sell a billion of them.

Gosh, he’s so humble and down to earth, great guy!

So Happy Mike is going this route. Was sad to hear all the scuttlebutt a few moths ago about him retiring. Knowing that his amps are not going anywhere is so great to hear. Well deserved for him and love the respect Capt'n and Pete showed him. Great piece of NAMM footage. Well done fellas!

A 30 watt soldano? That will probably be somewhat affordable, compared to original soldanos? Yes please, I'll take two.

Lee the tweed SLO you had your hand on was a prototype amp Mike Soldano had built for Stevie Ray Vaughan prior his death.. Stevie got to try it out before he died but he passed shortly after.. So Mike never got to hear feedback from Stevie.. Stevie's amp tech sent it back to Mike after Stevie's passing.. His tech told Mike that Stevie really liked it.. There's a video from NAMM of Mike explaining it on YouTube..

...and that Mr PRS, is how a decent human being talk to the press. Probably you can present that for NAMM2020, nah... you probably will charge for that too

This guy basically invented the Recto and 5150 too

Soldano Amps had there own thing going on back in the 80s, even EVH used a SLO100 as the base design for the 5150.

Mike seems like a good dude. Owning one of his amps has been a dream of mine. I had the opportunity when recording to try a wall of heads. I ended up tracking with the soldano because it just sounded the best.

He was talking calling it quits. I would guess that Dave Friedman showed him how Boutique Amplification could help him stay in business yet still move away from day to day business operations. I would much rather see him use Boutique to manufacture and continue to keep Soldano alive. Friedman, Morgan, Egnater, and Wampler are all part of that company and adding Soldano will make it even better. This is great news!

Damn, Mike is getting up there. This is a big wake up for me. I'm getting up there too..

Mike is such a sweetheart. I’m so happy that he’s moving production out of house and freeing himself up for more design work. He seemed a little stressed these last years in various interviews. I hope to see more SLOs on the shelves.

Ooooh... SLO30. Hopefully they'll price it properly rather than it costing the same as a small car.

What a nice guy, would love him for a Captain meets!

One of the things that made Soldano legendary was the hand wired, mil-spec build quality. Curious as to whether outsourcing the construction to a third party will compromise that, and become a slightly higher end version of Jet City amps.

Awesome! Hopefully the price will come down a bit now and the availability in stores increases. :)
Btw. there is an really long in depth interview/talk with Mike Soldano on the Tone Talk YouTube channel. You should check that out! Lots of stories!
