We join Land Rover for the final leg of its epic journey from Birmingham to Beijing in the one millionth Discovery.

The Land Rover Journey of Discovery served two purposes -- it was a celebration of the millionth Discovery being built and proof that Land Rover still build the most rugged vehicles in the world.

After crossing 13 borders, and covering more than 8,000 miles the four-strong convoy of Discoverys arrived safely in Beijing -- and we were behind the wheel.

Our video diary takes you on the last leg of the trip, from the point we joined it two days from the finish line, to the final destination at Beijing's famous birds nest stadium.

Read about the trip by checking out the Jack's diary:

I see they have after market NAV, that's wise considering how crap the Land Rover OEM unit works; they find themselves lost in India lol.

yeah but to be honest, its not only the engine, but that amount of miles on bad roads in a short period of time is also hard one suspension etc. especially on such a heavy car.
So i think its a good indicator if a car company has done their job well.

5L V8 petrol, 12, 000. I'd love to know what the average mpg was. Don't see the point if these PR stunts, most any car could do this trip these days. If the whole journey was off road, then great, otherwise its just a pleasant drive!

Interesting but honestly a bit thin review for such a journey. Hope there will be a more in depth editorial version later on. Keep it coming ;)

that is such a good point of view, i don't even understand why did it need extra protection underneath, it is an offroader it should have that as standard

I hate hearing people talk about how this new car is reliable because it didn't break down. It's fucking brand new!

It's the 'Land Rover PR Charity for Punctures and Stone-chips' isn't it?

I bet it cost them about a million pounds to cart all you journalists around and set up a motorshow stand.

I was just in China for 3 weeks, some spent on the roads outside of town, only saw a couple accidents. A lot of close calls though:) One was a coal truck on its roof!
