I get this question a lot from my patients and I’ve seen so many people doing it wrong. Today, I’ll tell you the best way to wipe your butt after you poop. You should wipe with a few squares (one or two). If you wipe gently and there’s little to nothing on your toilet paper, Congratulations! You’ve really got your sh*t together! Many of my patients tell me that they have to wipe excessively after they poop to feel clean. As a GI nurse for over 20 years, let me show you the step-by-step tutorial of how to properly clean your butt after you poop.

I am severely disabled and I have great difficulty wiping myself. I found an easy way to do it is to get a toothbrush with a long handle. wrap the bristles with toilet paper and use that, it is easy to use and easy to clean, and you should be able to use it by yourself.

Hello I’m a young teenager and I definitely need your help on this I was never taught the proper way.. when you say front to back are you saying even after you pee and poop.. that you can wipe from the front where you pee from all the way to back.. they need more health classes in school on this because a lot of us need it thank you

I find it funny that for some people and for her, it's already clean If they wash their butts with water only.
But here in southeast asia or some parts in asia, we wash our butts with soap and water, then wipe out butt with tissue to dry the butt, then we wash our hands with soap and water well, then it's better after you wash your hands, you put alcohol.
We've been doing it for centuries already I guess, or more than a decade.
Maybe it's not yet scientifically proven yet, that our way is cleaner, but I think ours is the better and right way.
For me that's what you call clean.
I don't like the idea that you just wash your butt, but the possible poop residue in your butt will be fermented there. Hehehehe.
I hope people all over the world cleans our butts the way we people in the Philippines, clean our butts too, we clean it well.
Well we respect everyone but for me how we do it here, is the real clean way of cleaning your butt.
Well the product that they use here for cleaning butts, I think is also good, If you don't wash it with soap, but I think it's still cleaner If you use soap and water for butt

Thank you for these instructions. The rubbing alcohol I used(not pure witch hazel) although it worked brilliantly at first, was swapped with another similar bottle of rubbing alcohol, and I now have an irritation on that part of my body. I was just beginning to feel better. Because I learned from your demonstration, someone was inspired to swap the rubbing alcohol to hurt the skin. I wanted to report this.

I have always done it just like she says...yes, I was told by a Doctor, and I have never had any infection...I also buy Walmart Personal Jelly Lubricant after the initial wipe. It is cheaper than the wipes, but I also have them. I use two sheets or maybe three if I feel it is particularly messy. There are a number of very cheap but good damp wipes to finish. I buy the Walmart Equate or the "Dude Wipes". Both are very good. I don't put anything that is simply wet down my toilet because I have a Septic Tank, so I keep a wastebasket with a bag in it and put it out in the trash. Just like mothers do when they have babies. I can't stand the thought of being dirty.
