Taras Bulba - Franz Waxman - FilmHarmonia

Показать описание
The FilmHarmonia Orchestra plays Taras Bulba by Franz Waxman (arr. John Glenesk Mortimer).
The 1962 film Taras Bulba is based on the novella of the same name by Nikolai Gogol (originally published in 1835, revised in 1842). The story follows the hard life of a Cossack man and his two sons, drawing on the tumultuous history of the region. The music is by turns agile and heroic, then heavy with the bitterness of grief and betrayal.
German-born composer Franz Waxman composed first for German films, then moved to Hollywood in 1935. In addition to becoming a giant of film music, Waxman founded the Los Angeles Music festival, which ran from 1947 to 1966.
