Thank for this. It was very insightful! The ease of play/setup and scalability really makes me even more excited for this beyond the cool art/theme.

Thanks for the video. I like that there is a more affordable standee option and I also like the map books instead of piles of map tiles.

Thanks Chris this was helpful. You mentioned all plusses for me: not to complex, scaling, gameplay/dice, leveling up, two handed solo, ease of play for family/beginners, less cumbersome as the big name crawlers. Furthermore: I really like the world, art and feeling of it all. Not the usual dark stuff but a colorful, kind of Avatar lush friendly world.

Thanks for the video. Gloomhaven is one of my favorite games, never played JoTL and I enjoy tidal blades art style so this may be something I back! Appreciate your videos and wanted to let you know I trust your opinion and look forward to your content.

Thanks for the video. I've been so excited for this since it has been announced. On the one hand I like that it will not be as large and complex and hard to table as other games are ( I am looking at you, Middara and Gloomhaven), on the other hand, I absolutely adore the worldbuildung. It is something fresh and unique, because the world and its inhabitants are so different from your standard fantasy fare. I already own Heroes of the reef, which I really enjoy, even though I am not a fan of worker placement games.
So this one can only become awesome as it is a genre that I love ( Coop story-driven Campaign games that is) in a world that is unique with mechanics that look both simple and challenging.

Just one thing though: Eko is a girl ;)

If I have Gloomhaven... and Frosthaven coming.... why would I get this game?

That's a great question. Thanks for framing it that way.

Thanks for good indepth video, with interesting points and comparisons made. Have you played Cult of Barnacle Bay? TB2 sounds similar to it also from what you have described.

Great video, I like the standee option, I have way too many minis, or there is not such thing as "too many minis" :) Are you backing it or not?

Looks pretty neat. I really wanted to like JOTL but I really don't like how the Gloomhaven system drains your hand of options, and then has you spiral downward with a smaller hand the next time. I also don't like how you mostly lock in your moves simultaneously with the opponent. That sounds good in the abstract but in practice it feels like trying to hit a piñata blindfolded. It seems this system has echoes of both "features" (the nexus board can fill up with wounds, there's a round limit, and you have to select a card before the AI), maybe toned down to a little less frustration level, but probably not enough to sell me. Esp at 3X the price! I like the brighter art and setting though.

The nexus board is neat but I would have liked to see it as a shared board, with some more player interaction. These days I'm kind of turned off when I see each player area is bigger than the shared area.

Glad you got a copy, Chris. Informative video. Do you have the designer's ear to ask about improving card variety, character uniqueness, and maybe adding some chance to the enemy's attacks? (The third didn't seem to slow you as much and maybe difficult to implement. The first two wouldn't be an unreasonable request.)

Thank you for the video. I'm ALMOST thinking of supporting this on your recommendation. ;)
I have Jaws of the Lion and I think it's very good but do I need another game? I don't think so, but I think it's very good of what it is supposed to do. 👍

Ugh, so many games I missed out on that I am trying to grab cheap on fb marketplace. Just got Massive Darkness 1 with a bunch of ks exclusives, and a few others. Tidal Blades, Nemesis, and so many others on my list now. It's all too much!

You mentioned Vagrantsong. What's one reason TB2 > V, and what's one reason V > TB2? :) Thanks as always for the videos.

So am I right in that this is completely different from the first game? That was a competitive worker placement/monster battler vs this being a cooperative dungeon crawler?
