Me when the cashier asked me to pay as a kid.

That other jet was called Concorde and it was not discontinued for the crash alone, other factors were constant sonic booms that occurred along its flight path which could damage infrastructure, and how much fuel it used up traveling at super sonic speeds.

It wasn’t even the concords fault for exploding, there was a piece of metal on the runway from a Continental Airlines DC-10

Now we just need a commercial version of the SR-71 Blackbird.

For those of you who don’t know, the Concorde wasn’t discontinued for the incident that happened, it was actually just for costs. The explosion was caused by a very tone hand sized piece that fell off of the previous plane that had just taken off, and when the Concorde went over it on takeoff it sent the piece flying into the engine which in turn cause the engine to explode, resulting in the crash.

Still not faster than grandma making you food as soon as you arrive

R.I.P Concorde you will always be a symbol in aviation and in our hearts ❤️ 😢

That jet also had one of the cleanest flight records of all aircraft, until it’s crash. The reason they grounded it wasn’t just because of the crash, but maintenance cost, supersonic booms, fuel costs, and how much of a hassle it was to keep it in good condition.

Fly high, Concorde.

And when 737 crashed countless amount of times, it's still used to this day, and is one of the most popular airliners ever

RIP Concord

Btw the cause of the explosion was a metal part of the landing gear of a dc10 which bounced off the wing and caused irregular vibrations on the wing. Corrections were made, while rubber was implemented in the fuel tanks in order to counter that instability. (This is way too oversimplified)

Idk why they discontinued the Concorde, such an iconic plane. And it was very good. A few crashes discontinued it while the DC-10 has had over 10 crashes and still is flying. It also was part of the final Concorde crash when a part of the DC-10 flew onto the runway.

That concorde ended up crashing because of a piece of metal it ran over on the runway which caused the tire to blow up which then caused the rubber from the tire to hit the fuel tank. The concorde was actually discontinued for high fuel costs and the noise.

RIP Concorde :(

As somebody who knows a thing or two about aeronautics, the front of the wings being separated from the fuselage would create immense drag, and possibly even tear off a wing. Also looks like it would go into a flat spin instantly.

Edit: where are the engine intakes? Centre of lift appears to be in the back, so it’ll flip a bunch

Not a good design.

Concorde was actually really safe - it only crashed once. It was debris on the runway from another plane that caused a chain of destruction.

The Concorde only exploded because there was metal debris on the runway from a previous takeoff. Its inevitable for a plane to eventually crash anyway.

Concorde wasn't exploded by its own mechanic design flaw, but debris attack on the airfield.
