They also reference 'getting a puppy' in the video Bluey makes for Bingo when she's in the hospital and treating it like a pet rather than a baby. I think it's just wanting to still be relatable, and lots of people have pets, especially dogs and cats. But I think to not confuse children, they don't show the pets much.
