My moms uncle found what I believe was a Mastodon tusk in southern Minnesota many decades ago. I saw it in 1994 after he passed away. It was in a long straight plastic or maybe glass tube and the tusk itself was very straight. The outside looked like an old bar of soap that had layers like flakes still stuck to it. My moms uncle had been trying to sell it as it had a $10, 000 price tag on it. When I was there I talked to his son who said his father was asking too much for it. He said that he was likely going to donate it to a museum. That would be a quite interesting item to display in your house if you could afford to own one.
