Knitting Help - Hiya Hiya Needles Review

In this video I give an overview and my review of Hiya Hiya Sharps and Steels interchangeable needle sets, including a comparision with Addi Turbos, Knitter's Pride Platinas, and Chiaogoo.

The needles in this video are Hiya Hiya Sharps and Hiya Hiya Steels, both interchangeable sets. They are available from many local yarn shops and online retailers.

I got the basic Hiya Hiya set a few years ago and then wanted to add some of the larger needles to it without buying another set. I found that there is an adapter from Hiya Hiya that will let the larger needles (larger screw threads) fit the cords that come with the smaller needles set. The adapter is tapered enough to allow smooth movement from the cord to the needle. Love your videos!

I purchased the Hiya-hiya sock interchangeables and WOW! I hate knitting socks and always used the magic loop which you definitely can do with this needles, but I have not only knitted 5 pairs of socks in as many weeks, I've knitted them ONE SOCK AT A TIME! I love these needles!

I recently switched to Hiya Hiya sharps. I was worried about the tips being to pointy, as I had heard others mention the painful finger tips. However, this has not been an issue for me. I did a side by side knitting comparison with Chiagoo (sp?) And prefer the Hiya Hiya, mostly because of the cable, and it's flexibility. They never untwist, which I was having trouble with with Chiagoo. I also had a problem recently with wrist and arm pain from knitting. I realized that due to sheer laziness, I was using a set of Knitters Pride needles (which I have loved for years!) instead of my Hiya Hiya's. When I switched needles, all the pain went away. I think anyone who is knitting a lot owes it to themselves to test drive as many needle sets as they can. Pick your most common needle size, and get that size in different brands, before committing to full sets!

I have two sets of hiya hiya and am glad you got a chance to review them. I looovvvveee these and these are I use them religiously and they will improve your knitting by speed like nobody’s business. Highly recommend.

If you’re a tight knitter like myself, Hiya Hiya is a game changer! The swivel cord helps the stitches escape my death grip! I bought both Hiya Hiya & ChiaGoo sets a few months ago & I only use the Hiya Hiya now. I can’t seem to achieve gauge without them! I’ve completed more projects in the last few months than in the past few years!

I started with Hiya Hiya's and loved the needles but not the cords. Then I tried ChiaoGoo and I have never looked back. The cords are amazing and the needles feel so good in my hands. I have found that the cables for both sets of interchangeable's come loose unless I use the rubber pieces to tighten them and I use the rubber with the ChiaoGoo as well. My husband bought me the complete set of ChiaoGoo's sizes 2-15, for Christmas 2 years ago and like I said they are my favorite. Thank you for your review.

Thank you SO MUCH for pointing out the difference in texture on the needles. This is Chiagoo's breaking point for me. Not only does it slow me down, but when the needles slide across each other, the sound and feeling drives my senses crazy. Their cords are the only reason that i choose them over every other needle. If they were smooth like Hiya Hiyas, they would literally be the perfect needle set. GET WITH IT, CHIAGOO!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE my Hiya Hiya Sharp Needles! I have both small and large sets - they're fantastic to work with and would never go back to what I used before (Denise Interchangeable. They're okay but they really can't compare to Hiya Hiya). I really love that they have a "twisting" cord (sorry for my bad English) which is a life savior for me. Lol.

I have tried the and purchased the Hiya Hiya interchanges and love them. The ChiaoGoo’s are a wonderful set of needles also. They are the next on my list to purchase. Knitters certainly have a great selection of tools for our craft. Thanks for the video.

I have Chiaogoos, Knit Picks, Knitters Pride, Addi Clicks and Hiya Hiya. I know... however, my favorites are the Hiya Hiya, primarily because the cord spins. Chiaogoo also makes a ‘spinner’ cord for their interchangeable sets but they cost more.

I've been using HiyaHiya Sharps for many years and I love them. In the last year I bought a ChiaoGoo Mini set with those gorgeous flexible cords and I love them too. Yes, very similar tips, for sure. There is one thing I've discovered that has become indispensable and that is a ChiaoGoo adapter (Amazon) which converts a medium size needle to use with a mini cord. Those skinny, flexible mini cords are the only thing I use now.

I love my Hiya Hiya sharps. Every time I start a project on my addi or chiaogoo fixed circulars I find my self changing to the Hiya Hiya. I have had them for about two years and only this week clued in to the brilliance of the single point adapters which convert your tips into straight needles. I am using them now and they are great.

Thank you for the review it is very helpful. Currently using a size 4 ChiaoGoo for a finger weight sock yarn and love the feel compared to the knitters pride size 4 platina. It’s remarkable the difference between needles and the videos give so much info! Thanks Staci
