Kashmir has a been a troubled land for as far as I can remember (I am old but not that old). In light of recent events, I did some digging to learn about Kashmir and Kashmir’s history. There were quite a few new things that I found and I thought it would be best to share them with my students. It might give them a better perspective on the entire issue. So, given below is the entire video. In the video, I have divided the history of Kashmir according to the timeline given below:
Pre-1947
During Partition
50s-80s
Late 80s – Early 2000
Early 2000 – Till today

I would like to add that I am not an expert on the topic and this is all the information that I gathered in few hours from various sources on the internet. If you find any errors, please let me know via the comment section. I have tried to remain as neutral as possible.

I like how you tried to maintain a neutral stand/POV on the various issues/debates Kashmir is facing (AFSPA/Burhan Wani/Riged Election).
Good effort!

Being a kashmiri I would say u r round about 90% right. I would like to correct one thing rather add one thing that is huge participation of people in 2014 elections, the reason for this is that kashmiris dont wanted that BJP should come to power so in order to overthrow them people voted in favour of PDP, but what really happened later every body better knows.

Brother let me clarify the point of participation in election process...c the whole state is divided into 3 parts kashmir jammu and ladakh....and in jammu there is Hindu majority so they want to join india and people of ladakh are willing to join with china because they have close relationship with china and are living in kashmir china border side...and the rest part which is called kashmir is fighting for freedom because there is Muslim majority so they are fighting for their right that's people of kashmir have right to join with country they want...and in kashmir is very very low participation% in elections(there are some Sikhs about 5% which participate in election process....

As a Kashmiri I want to say that whatever you said about Kashmir is true except one thing that you said Kashmiri Pandiths were forced to leave, which is 100% wrong, it was actually a fear psychosis created by Gujmohan not by Kashmiri Muslims, they are most welcome to return back to their home land

This video looks too much appropriate this day when Article 370 has been revoked! Time will tell how good or bad it is.

I used to side with Indian Army, I've been thinking and thinking of this issue, and kashmir deserves freedom, poor people haven't done anything wrong, and of course they're gonna be angry if a bunch of army members are there.

Democracy and voting can almost never be allowed for Muslims, because the large lower classes elect radical governments that try to destroy democracy once in office, anyway. The only stable Islamic countries, where women and minorities are treated decently, are where there is a secular elite of nominally Muslim professionals running everything under a secular dictator or the military. If 'Islam' could be ended or altered / reformed, countries like Iran, India and Pakistan could develop into more unified and powerful nations. 'Islam', meaning what it means to be Muslim to many lower claas people.
