Important historical context is that Kashmir was majority Muslim and had wanted to be with Pakistan but Hindu Maharaja wanted to be with India. Referendum was supposed to be held per UN. As a Kashmiri from Pakistani side we have freedom, autonomy and independent government and ownership of property that Kashmiris under Indian occupation may not totally have.
