I love the "multiples axes of righteousness" angle. Keep up the great work, Jimmy and Catholic Answers!

Where does it say in the Bible that we can't cleanse ourselves ? That's a modern day idea which is wildly popular as people excuse themselves from repenting to the Lord .. "if any man cleanses himself (from sin) he shall be a vessel of honour fit for the masters use. : 2 Timothy 2 v 21.
I have also done it in my own life .
I'm not saying it's easy but by taking every thought captive and denying self it is how it's done.
There's also many other verse like it.

If st Paul said ..So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come.

What happens when you fall and revert back to your old ways?

Does that mean you were NEVER "in Christ "?

The "chief dude" and the "eleven other dudes" don't appear to be getting along too well nowadays.

Just one point here, well not so little, Jesus did NOT die on a cross but rather an upright stake (Grk Stauros) or upright pole ! Remember what the Bible says that we MUST worship God "with spirit and with TRUTH" ! I recommend that people who would like to know the truth look it up and do the research, that way you get to worship God with spirit and with truth !

Christ's righteousness IS immediately imputed to us at justification, otherwise we aren't Justified, because that IS what justifies us. We are DECLARED righteous because we possess Christ's righteousness, not our own.

1:35 What is the purpose of this distinction? Righteousness comes from Christ that doesn't belong to Him? That makes no sense. Your point is that knees won't bend to Christians as they do to Christ? Well of course, now you're debating mormons, not protestants lol, the baptist doesn't claim that he will be worshipped in heaven BECAUSE he got Christ's rightesousness.

You are equating equating Christ's righteousness with his divinity, which are not the same thing. Jesus EARNS righteousness by never sinning and fulfilling the law, and he gives the eternal life He earned, to us. Christ never EARNED divinity, therefore we son't inhereir that. We only inherit what Christ earned in his human nature, not all that he ever was as God.

But, if you can lose salvation as the Roman Catholic says, then there is no difference between justification and sanctification, and thereby misleading when you claim we also accept those words, not the way you think of them not at all.
