What a great comparison. All great looking watches and nice to see them side by side. The dial on the mini is just beautiful. Mrs CSR has great taste… at least in watches! 😊

I have an SBBN007. It’s my favorite due to the metal finish bezel and dial. The crop circles and uncluttered script is just so much cleaner than the Marinemaster branded dials.

The greatest dive watch ever! For me, the Grandfather Tuna is almost unbeatable, but of more modern Tuna, I'd go SBDX013 'Dark Emperor.' The most legible watch ever, great *L movement and so wearable, so light. Also it's badged 'Marinemaster 1000' which just elevates it - I just can't buy into the 'X!' But all are fantastic and a unique and utterly brilliant design. Also, worth remembering the 50th anniversary is next year and I can't image Seiko missing an opportunity to re-release an amazing LE...

Finally, someone else that loves the Tuna's, and has multiple.

Love the Baby Tuna with the penguin feet on the dial. The grey strap that it came with is super comfortable. Often my other watches borrow the strap. The only thing is that the crown is to short for men’s fingers. I wish it was bigger.

Great vid! Recently picked up an SBBN017, absolutely adore it! Gotta be careful with the beautifully domed hardlex crystal, but I can’t see myself ever parting with it, a timeless classic. I think eventually I’ll mostly wear this, my G-Shock Square 5610 and a GS 9F quartz, and sell my other 20something autos. I’ve come to the conclusion I value grab and go accuracy above faffing. Maybe I’ll keep my SLA023, it’s a stunner!

Good comparison of various Tuna. Learn a bit more about Tunas and their sizes. Thanks!

Just saw someone is selling black PVD Tuna (mini? baby?) that’s about 40mm diameter SRPE31K1 made in Japan, with the Prospex logo 200m WR and Mickey Mouse on the dial. Using the same set of SKX hands but lollipop second hand is painted red.
It’s a 7S26 movement with day, date complication.

It’s definitely a fun watch to get and I am considering it, just no way to check the authenticity of it.

I have two of the original "affordable" Tunas, the SRP637. It was a Gen 2 Monster with a steel shroud on it; 4R movement. They came out about six or seven years ago. (I'm wearing my SKX right now :)

Excellent video … that Emperor only needs one thing … shoehorn a black Isofrane onto it … with the black buckle option ;)

Super nice collection. I prefer the 007 but the 600 and 1000m versions are cool too. The automatic makes me want (or a spring drive). Maybe one day... 😅

Out of all the watches I've sold the Seiko Tuna is the one I still think about.

Great review, but perhaps you're missing a longer discussion on the 1000-m quartz monocoque Tuna, which is my favourite of all of the Seiko Tunas. You did briefly bring it up via a photo of your SBBN013...

The story behind Seiko Tuna is one of the most interesting stories in the watch world. Seiko's efforts in the 70s to develop the Tuna as a reliable & robust divers watch, IMO, were on par with Seiko's quest for accuracy in the 60s through their GS lines.

Oddly enough, I actually prefer the kinetic Tuna (SUN021P1).
At first it was only going to be a 5M85 movement stand in for my Sportura Kinectic GMT, but the functionality, easy to read dial plus quartz accuracy sold me and it might be the best casual diver's watch out there.
The original SUN019 was great but lack the color coding for an easy read.
Though kinetic Tunas look too sporty to be even called a tuna, functionwise it's awesome.

Ive owned the sbbn017, sbbn037, and sbdb013. They all rock. Loved the metal hands on the 017 but it lacked legibility compared to the newer tunas. The 037 has better lume but I didnt like the handset as much as it l felt cheap and was true to the orginalnal style. The sbdb013 had the spring drive and feels very premium (best bang for buck tuna and spring drive) but the same handset issue kept the watch from
being perfect. From a tool perspective the new handsets are more legible and functional than the traditional tuna metal handsets which they brought back on the newest versions.
