My pilgrimage to Mount Athos was absolutely an incredible experience. We saw so much beauty; be it the people, nature, the monasteries, and the churches. This trip will forever be a spiritual high point of my life as an Orthodox Christian.

What?! How amazing! So glad you got to go. I thanks to God, got to go to St. John forerunner in Serres Greece several years ago. There are a few sisters there that used to be at the convent in Florida that Geronda Efraim started. I grew up going to stay with them as a little girl for weeks at a time in the summer. I had not seen them for 25 years since they had returned to Greece and was able to see them again when I visited there! It was truly amazing and special. That monastery is otherworldly, as I’m sure Mt Athos was! So thrilled to see this pop into my feed and so grateful to you and the other orthobros for promoting the monasteries and especially Geronda Efraim monasteries. They are the best kept secret and such a bastion of hope.

If you get a chance, please visit Geronda Polykarpos and his monastery Panagia Vlahernon in Ocala Florida when you get the chance! It’s a little slice of Mt Athos here at home in the states :)

I visited Mt Athos in 2014 and I plan to again soon, God willing. That ferry ride from Ouranopolis to Hilandariou was the best of my life.

What Monastery did you go to? I just went with a group of American guys this past week. We were probably there at the same time, but different monasteries
