Why do we prune trees? What are the reasons? In another of the Tree Decision videos, I'm talking about a large Sycamore.

I am no arborist Blair, but as a woodworker, tree lover and homeowner, I always can count on learning from your videos. Thanks and keep on putting them out. (Winter suddenly hit Alabama this afternoon, as the temperature plummeted from 68 to 46 degrees. I am checking the basement for snow chains.)

We stay sick from cuttin so many daily in line clearance...I've been inside one that was the largest on the east side of the Mississippi...Webster springs west Virginia...had an 80' hemlock growing in the main crotch...it sadly fell from campers building fires inside...I guess it was around 12' or in that neighborhood cause walkin in it was easy...tricky to rig with slick, dense bark....the aussies have it down and amaze me the strength they have to take down such massive eucs/mountain ash

I appreciate the way you share your knowledge and experience. Thanks from an Aussie in rural NSW.

I'm glad I got in when I did and never messed around with DRT. To each there own. Keep up the great videos, I enjoy you showing different trees and different situations. I've been in business for myself for 3 years and I've learned a ton by watching your videos.

Big Sir has some giant sycamores that put me in Ahhhh!, I would recommend camping under them for anyone to see! They are beautiful trees. 🙏

Again thank you for the knowledge you are willing to share with us home owners that do our own tree maintenance. I made my first purchase from tree stuff can't say enough good things about them. I was told that the Sycamore is a very hard wood, don't know we don't have them in my area.

nice video to see how trees are pruned

That was a really nice tidy prune so much so you couldn't tell it had been worked on, just as it should be, great job. I think this is the ideal scenario for the battery extendable polechainsaw Patrick (EducatedClimber) was using in his recent production. Would've given it a battery longevity test for sure....

Over here, we recognise sycamore, maple, plane and Japanese acers all as distinctly different types of acer. It's not the only tree with different names on each side of the Pond. One which comes to mind, and which is even more confusing to people, is the Norway spruce, which you might know as Oregon pine. It all adds variety to life.

Here is Oz they are in full dust mode, the foot paths and roads are lined yellow, thankful last night and the next few days, rain will wash it all away.

Today is an errand day for me. No trees. So I headed to McDonalds where I parked next to a 3/4 ton truck. The sticker on the truck said, Old Guys Rule.
In a recent video you said, No old man jokes. So I thought of you.

Hi Blair,
the names are confusing, in Germany we call them Platane(n).
Nice shots with the moon, I like it.

Btw. do you remember what the shipping fee was for sending the stoker stick to Italy?

Yep a London plane (sycamore) has nearly made me throw up coughing on a couple of occasions. I think it would cause too much confusion calling a London plane by it’s correct name in the uk now. Very informative information though.

Sometimes you comment that certain tress are not good trees for Santa Clara valley. We will have to plant two 24" box trees according to our permit to replace the liquid amber and cedar tress that are dying. We live in Sunnyvale and I have two questions. Where should we go to purchase our box trees? We don't want a large bonsai. Is a Sycamore appropriate for my back yard?

That’s an interesting Taught line hitch you’re using Blair, 3 under 1 over? I’ve always been told 2 under 2 over was the standard. Of course my father always did 2 under 1 over but told me “do as I say not as I do” haha.
Never seen 3 & 1 before. But maybe I’m just seeing things?

Hi, I just saw one of your videos where you mentioned how you have observed that larger potted trees do not do as well when planted in the ground as the smaller potted trees that are planted into the ground. Why is this?

I charge a little extra for sycamores... try chewing gum while you chip them, it helps with the tricombs. That tree cleaned up very nicely!

8:02 -- If you prune a tree correctly, the pruning is usually not so drastic as to draw attention.

Sycamore trees aren't too common here, though I have seen a few of them. They aren't anywhere near that tall though. Always enjoy seeing the job being done.
