In this video I am making the cylinder head patterns. I also show how to chuck up something in the four jaw chuck and show how a wiggler is used.

my dad was a machinist. I grew up with it, but became a carpenter, cabinet maker. glad to see you own up to the difficulty of using machine equipment with woodworking equipment. I know you will clean it all up very well. Bottom line, take care of your equipment!!!

Excellent, Just found you. My lathe has no markings on the dials , it’s that old ! But it’s no problem one full turn takes 1/8 off the dia .So half a turn is 1/16 etc . With this set up I can easily work to within a couple of thousands of an inch.More than Accurate for live steam locomotives .

Hey trainman, as a fellow live steamer in Australia I love your vids. Good old school stuff, love the absence of gloves and long sleeves and that you wear an apron as I do. Best of all love your Tailstock Wobbler, will have to make one for myself. May you always have a full head of steam.

Ha! "you shouldn't use air on your lathe, but everyone does it.. get over it!" I like your attitude, and now when I blow swarf away with shop air I will feel much less guilty. Cheers!

Dave, do you have a video on machining the cylinders for a locomotive? thanks....

Yes you are dangerous because you teach and inspire others, and those who don't do anything but complain feel threatened.

This comment isn't a response to not being able to see or understand what you're doing at any stage of the video.

Perhaps just a suggestion as you seem convinced you need an extra camera to do a better job.

Truth is that you only need one camera. No one is sending you a $1000.

Pick a better camera angle to show of the work you are doing.
The viewers are not coming to your channel to view you.
They (Like me) are interested in the knowledge and experience you have.
I can honesty say no one is learning anything from your hand gestures or your face.

What it would seem is you're more interested in the lime-light than video documenting the more useful things you're doing.

Lately i have seen SUPER successful youtube channels in which you never see their face once!
I suggest you watch these channels if you havn't seen them before (Clickspring and AVE).
These channels have a huge number of subscribers.
These channels are hugely addictive because you're learning and SEEING exactly what you expect to see.
Quite often first person footage. This is a huge benefit for the viewer in terms of immersion.
Both with immensely different video style and content.

If you can see that you could be doing a better job. Why wouldn't you do it?
Many commenters will have useful criticism which you should listen to.

The person you mentioned in this video was giving you important feedback.

Try filming one of your next videos so we can see more of what you see.
I think you'll find quite a receptive response in terms of views and likes.

Regards
Jack
