Cowboy Horse Trainer Try's Dressage First Time

I'm always up for new experiences, And riding english is definitely that. What is it like for a cowboy to ride english for the first time. Are the different disciplines really that different?

I grew up riding western. but the local horse show had a pony jumper div.I thought at the time, that all that jumping "up and down" was silly!. I was 8yrs old. I decided to learn about all that, won the local pony jumper class, and went on to win at The All England Showjumping at Hickstead . my motto was.."Watch Me NOW"! it worked because I was determined, and I loved and took special care of my hordes!

Awesome! Glad to see you trying this seat too. There are lots of techniques to add to your back country horses too.
I found dressage schooling really helped me & my horses in countless occasions out in the back country & long distance ruding.

You did good! I definitely agree about cross training and trying new things! Good for horse and rider. I think you would enjoy and do very well in both cowboy and western dressage and you could keep your western tack and clothes ;)

I’ve never rode a English saddle either but I’ve heard from some that have only rode western that they rode really good when they tried one..?!
