Always loved this song: Mad Dogs and Englishmen was one of the first music books for guitar, etc., that I ever bought in the early 70s, alongside Rolling Stones: Hot Rocks. Great band, too, and Joe's voice?!! Soul'n'roll.

Bought this album new in 70 or 71. My memory ain’t what it used to be. I’m 68 now. I’m originally from the Mississippi Delta, so this inspired regional pride there back then.

I saw Joe Cocker in concert in 1968. I had never heard of him before because he wasn't famous yet. Nevertheless, he blew my mind. Incredible.

What's funny, if you ever see the concert film of this song, as Joe finishes (he thinks) the song and says
"Rock And Roll", Leon Russell starts playing the piano again and the look Joe gives him is like
"What? I thought we were done."
