The Russian anti-submarine destroyer Vice-Admiral Kulakov 626 entering Portsmouth harbour on friday 24 August,then seen tied up on the victory jetty on sunday 26th.The ship left Portsmouth at 10am tuesday 28th.

The Vice-Admiral Kulakov is a Udaloy Class anti-submarine destroyer and was commissioned in 1982 and was on combat duty with the northen fleet untill March 1991,when she was retired for repairs that lasted for more than 18 years.The ship returned to Severomorsk base on 7 December 2010 and returned to active duty.On 5 January 2011 a fire broke out in one of the ships mess-rooms.It was reported to be caused by a short circuit.The damage was minimal and did not reduce the combat effectiveness of the ship.

Before arriving at Portsmouth the destroyer was leading a flotilla of the Northen Fleet in the Eastern Mediterranean conducting naval drills ,close to the Syrian coast.

Very nice looking ship, just wish they had got their choppers out, for want of a better phrase :)
