Now, that's something you don't get to see every day. Brilliant!

I remember a Russian warship visiting Portsmouth in 1996 or 97, back then it was customary for the Flag Officer Portsmouth to invite the Captain and senior officers to his residence in the dockyard for a quick welcome drink however the Russians turned up with a few bottles of Vodka:).
Many toasts made with Admiral Rankin praising the Russians and vice versa, trouble was each toast involved drinking a full glass of Vodka, (with about four shots in one glass:), suffice to say after a couple of hours our Admiral was three sheets to the wind, the Russians being vodka drinkers were simply tipsy but everyone had a great time.

Ah the Udaloy, one of the most formidable sub hunters out there. It's active sonar is very good.

Can’t believe how many times I’ve been sunk by these buggers in cold waters...

It looks like a Udaloy I. I figured they were upgraded to the Udaloy II which instead of two 100mm guns they have a single turret with two 130mm guns in it as well as more modern missiles.

It was built for a conflict that never came true, maybe that is why

I was lucky enough to get on board her in Liverpool some years ago .
Incidentally she turned up at the wrong pilot station and cost someone in the region of £30, 000 in extra port fees .

The Russian Udaloy-class destroyers are my favorite ships of their fleets and their best looking ships. A friend once called them "Spruance clones."

2012 This were so much better. Little did we know Russia and Chine would spend the next 10 years preparing for war.

Boy allot of weapons and two heleocopters. Both long range and close in. Did any one notice the duel gatling guns for last ditch defense.

Robust design, rough finishing, but after all this is just one more war machine with its exact purpose. They did not spent money on unnecessary "polishing" the ship unlike a team on the other side who charges three times their work just because their product is "eye catching".
