I wasn’t born yet at the time but my father told me stories about it . He lived in northwest Oklahoma all his life. I’m 65 now.

My grandma lived in Kansas during this time and she explains it so much more crazy. Animal life was effected in a drastic and strange way as well. She recalls when a massive storm of grasshoppers came toward the house and splattered on the glass, completely covering the glass with the remains of grasshoppers.

Thank you. It was a chore trying to use the video in the online Language Arts textbook by Pearson. This is a good replacement.

If anyone's here from online school, hello. Here's a short summary of the Dust Bowl, what caused it and the impacts it had

In the 1930s, there was an abundance of wind erosion throughout areas of North America, such as New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Western Kansas and Colorado. This was known as the Dust Bowl, and was caused by little rain and unusually high temperatures, but mainly poor agricultural/ farming practices, such as trees being cut down for growing space for wheat. The Dust Bowl affected on people's lives in many ways, including losing their livelihoods and their homes and soils being damaged, resulting lack of crops for people and farm animals.

Hope that helped???

The Dust Bowl went all the way up to Saskatchewan. Canada was one of the countries hit hardest In the 1930s.

Not watching this for school. Watching because of fraught conditions in the southwest that will likely lead to food shortages and economic disaster similar to depression era.

I remember old farmers telling me that their dairy cows would eat the leaves that they could reach off the trees because of the limited grass and then their milk would get rejected from the milk buyers because it affected the taste. Strange times
