“Do you love it?”
“I am loving it.”
Bill Bailey is probably my favourite panellist ever

You can see the moment Bill Bailey thinks of the I'm loving it joke.

At their 60th anniversary a couple was asked how they stayed together for so long. The husband explained that before their wedding, they had agreed that she would make the small and everyday decisions, and he would make the big and significant decisions. When asked what a big and significant decision was, he answered that he didn't know, so far there hadn't been any 😅

We only spent a couple thousand on the wedding and related costs. She got sick on the wedding champagne. The car died on our honeymoon. We spent our first two weeks married being very sick, at one point we threw up on each other.
Saturday, the 8th of August will be our 32nd anniversary.

Secret to staying together: Puke on each other.

My favorite part about this clip, is that I recognize that shirt from Greg’s closet, when Rhod Gilbert filmed him sleeping for a Task Master prize task.

Also, globally there are cultures that tend to have bigger weddings (with more and more attendees) and those cultures usually also have huge familial pressure not to get divorced. It’s not always the couples choice. Weddings where tradition and family come first, often divorce isn’t an option.

That makes sense: a cheap wedding means you want the marriage more than the wedding, and more attendants means you can both sustain felicitous family relationships.

Personally i think its because the people that insist on big weddings have the wrong attitudes to it. Its similar to people desperate to have a child. They get such a blown out of proportion idea of it that when it happens they are more likely to not really want a child. Same with marriage they have this grandiose idea of the perfect marriage and partner they often forget to make sure they are with the right partner. I had to edit this. The missing N on my blow was driving me potty.

My husband and I spent about CDN$1000 on our wedding and reception and were married for 28.5 years until he died from leukaemia last year. We had a very small civil ceremony and then a big party.

The cost thing makes sense, cause if you're spending less money on the actual day, maybe it's cause you've got your priorities right and you're getting married out of love, not in order to be n°1 social event of the year.

The guest thing also sorta makes sense? Maybe it's a pride thing 😂 the more people watch you get married, the less likely you'll want the marriage to "fail" (no saying divorce is bad. It's necessary for some people)

£1500 spent taking our friends and fam. to our favourite Turkish restaurant, that was our wedding shindig after leaving city hall. Fun times and still going strong!

I'm glad that english is my language, so that I can have a lifetime of enjoying British humour.

Probably because people who spend too much on a wedding have this unrealistic fantasy about marriage but then get bored when real life hits them

definitely not enough credit for “dead vicar”

Lots of wedding guests usually implies a strong social structure with traditional values and stronger support system. I’ve known weddings that had three hundred guests all personal friends of the bride and groom...

Another example of correlation (or inverse correlation in this case) does not imply causation.
But looking into the cultural and social category & positions the people getting married belong to, you can extract clear trends and causes.

I'm from Hong Kong, and while it's true that our McDonald's will host parties for birthdays or weddings and such, the image they used is not of a HK McDonalds. Hong Kong uses only traditional Chinese, whereas the image they used shows simplified Chinese which is used in mainland China.
Our McDonald's is a lot different from the UK; we have breakfast items like macaroni, plus we have McWings which are amazing. Also, we definitely don't have bouncers at McDonald's at night.
Here's more about HK Mcdonalds' weddings:

Paul McCartney's first marriage to Linda was done in a registry office with a few close relatives and friends and then the rest of the world watched as they left. They were married till Linda's death
