Thanks for this, I'm waiting for the P40 Pro+ I June, can't wait I think it's a great phone, Google services won't be an issue really, you can use phone clone to get most of your apps over and use other app stores and of course get YouTube etc from the browser and save to the phone screen, there's always a way...👍🏻🙂

Ive been using the P40 pro for a few months now and yes the camera is incredible. Don't be put of by the lack of Google. 80% of most apps are available. Google map's is working the only downside if you call it that is it won't let you login if your one who contributes photo's to map's. Apart from that Facebook / Twitter etc all work fine as does messenger /WhatsApp. It's not as alienated as GOOGLE would have you think..

Great review, and arguably the best and most honest! I’ve currently got the awesome iPhone 11 Pro Max. The P40 Is the only Android phone that’s making me twitch when I see or hear about it; mainly because of the camera; but sadly, the lack of ‘google’ is a deal breaker for me and probably many others. I’d love to see more Jon Bentley classic YouTube style reviews, like this!! Thank you :-)

There is Google maps and chrome. No problem. Airbnb OK (just used it to book a lovely 4 nights in Bridlington UK.
These reviews are just lazy and incompetent as I have had my p40 pro for a month and have access to 163 apps from my previous phone cloned phone. Only 4 previous apps do not work and have had to use Web browser on home screen. That just adds possibly 5 seconds more. So not a problem at all. Difference though is that my WhatsApp etc are backed up to Huawei drive which is now my default drive and not Google drive. I use celia (Huawei voice AI) and not Google voice, I use Huawei music. Huawei Pay not yet fully developed but heard will be soon. To get apps use petal Search. No issues of risk as Huawei checks for viruses and risk and these apps are updated almost daily.
Honestly this was a poor review as the very things that was told you can't do ie Google map and chrome are absolutely fine. I fact last update has improved the service even more.
