I always tell people when they ask me what my favorite Rush song is, that trying to pick one favorite is a fool's errand. This song exemplifies that perfectly. Just a masterfully executed, thoughtfully created, and poetically written song that few people, other than Rush fans really know, and yet, while I'm listening to it, I can't imagine of a better song. Dozens of their tracks fit that same formula; the pinnacle of the artform

I cannot emphasize enough how much this album and this song in particular inspired me. I get emotional when I think about it. I have such a debt of gratitude to Rush for their music. My life wasn't going particularly well and I was feeling lost when this album came out. But it gave me the added impetus to persevere, and I did end up having a pretty good life, which I can now reflect upon with some satisfaction. I honestly believe I wouldn't have had anywhere near the modicum of success I experienced without the intervention of Rush's music. It's one thing to discover the music 40 years hence and be moved by it, and I do appreciate RHN's wonderful Rush reactions. But it's completely different to have lived through the times and experienced the music as it came out, and have it be the proverbial soundtrack of your life. I kind of feel sorry that people of this time won't have that experience. Well, I've rambled enough.

Every song on this album is great. One of their best albums in my opinion.

in the 80's Rush learned to coalesce their skills to create tighter, shorter songs.. less 20 minute epics. Power Windows is a set of 8 well written songs.

People who dismiss this album and this era miss out on some of Rush's best ever songs, their best production values, some of their best ever instrumental performances, some of Geddy's best, most passionate vocal performances, and some of Neil's best ever lyrics.

I saw them on this tour 3 times. Back-to-back nights in SF and Oakland, then 4 months later in Sacramento. One of my favorite albums.

Oh my dearest redhead, you’re finally here. This is the song that moves me most out of the entire Rush catalogue. This is the band on its absolute A-game…drums, synth, bass, vocals, guitar, everything.

This takes me back every time to SoCal circa 1987 on my bike, pedaling all over Orange County awash in simultaneous feelings of freedom, longing, dreaming, loneliness, emptiness, fulfillment, joy, frustration. My headphones pumping with sonic determination.

Every word and note of this one echoes through and shakes my soul to this day. I can still feel the wind in my hair and hear the tickling of the bicycle chain, the woosh of the traffic.

This isn’t just music for me. It’s life. Aural life. I’m so glad you found it.

As a new Rush fan, who was a child of the '80s and loves '80's music, I really enjoy their synth years. I feel like Geddy's voice was at its best here: Melodic, a comfortable range, but still powerful and able to convey a lot of emotion. As someone who grew up on a farm about 8 miles from a town of 8, 000 people, I also relate to the lyrics. You can really hear the longing in this song to experience something beyond the confines of small-town life.

This has always been a favorite. The melancholy sense of longing in the words, vocal delivery and Lifeson's emotive responses is so touching.

I literally had an argument with a supposed Rush fan...he thought that Power Windows was their worst album?!?...This album is the cornerstone for their next era i.e. 2112...Moving Pictures...and this💖 ....Live February 3rd 1986 San Diego Sports Arena...I was there, power failure and all (during Marathon) must have been the lasers

This is how stupid and introverted I am....the second verse talks of two friends walking together and one of them leaves to chase his dreams, I always thought about how the guy left behind felt and have always found it to be a sad verse.

One of my all-time favorite Rush songs. I know a lot of Rush fans don't like their more electronic 'radio pop' side from the 80s, but I love it. "Enemy Within" is probably my favorite from this era.

Saw this tour. 🙂 Hearing Marathon live for the first time is something I’ll never forget. A true highlight.
I even had the concert shirt. I had ALL the concert shirts.

I love all eras of Rush, but I always find myself coming back to this album. The production is so clean, the synths and guitars complement each other so well, Ged's voice/phrasing. Just fantastic start to finish. And this song is just amazing

Neil's underlying bass rhythm is so often overlooked in this track, it's superb 👍
