When I’m working on a book, I try to write for at least two hours a day, six days a week. I want to complete the rough draft of my book by next spring, so I’ve increased it to three hours a day. I’m a slow writer in terms of my daily word count, so I try to make up for it with consistency. I’m lucky that I currently don’t have a day job. If I did, I probably couldn’t manage more than an hour a day. Of course, I’ve been on this schedule for eighteen months, so I’m starting to feel burned out. That’s why after I finish my next book, I’m looking forward to a long break.

It took me hours, days and patience to come up with a story structure

I'm at my happiest when I write. However, I only write when I have an idea that gets me excited, which is sadly once every 18 months...

I loved to listen to Mr. Jonathan's view of writing practically. Concept of crying to silence to song writing is absolutely real, relevant and referential

What he says at the end of the video is the best part.

👍🏽👍🏽

I've just literally spent the evening setting up a second writing space that's not at my main desk - to allow me to write in a different setting, but still getting to write.

The time I write is very sporadic and spontaneous. Sometimes I can go months without a single idea, other times, I'll come up with three songs in the span of a week and several jokes.

I write spontaneously. Once an idea comes, i get to work on my note pad or phone or laptop and i don't stop until I'm done with the first draft. Most times i don't decide the end of the story, it just comes. But the moment i start including the dialogues, the characters take over the story.

I hate how the podcast number of the episode Im currently watching is never told. So frustrating. I searched the podcast listing and it doesn’t seem to be there.

How much time do you set aside each day to write?

i’m struggling so much with discipline every day i think it’s because writing mechanically is so easy we take it for granted so it’s easy to write it off pun intended 😢
