I've owned both pellet grill (Traeger Timberline) and the Masterbuilt. The best way I can describe it is pellets are clean they burn clean (which for me = no or very little flavor.) Charcoal on the other hand I describe as "dirty" and when being burned you get that Charcoal (dirty if you will) taste which I prefer and is why I have sold my Pellet grill and keeping the Masterbuilt.

Thanks for this video! It has answered my questions as I already have a couple of different bbqs and a charcoal spit. I was looking for either a pellet smoker or the charcoal smoker.
I've made my decision so thank you very much for this informative and unbiased presentation.

Thanks for these comparisons. Can you try one using charcoal pellets to see if you can get that charcoal flavor on the pit boss?

Well here I am again watching a comparison video, and again I would eat either one, they both looked delicious 😋. Just got my Pit Boss and so far so good. Thanks for the review!

How do you compare a charcoal cooker with a pellet smoker?

They both look amazing as always and I'm leaving hungry again after watching one of your bbq video's... that happens on your gun videos too though for some reason 😁

You are the reason i got my pellet grill. And I would absolutely agree with your outcome opinions!! I do charcoal when I have the time and really want the taste. But otherwise? I throw it on the pellet and walk away... Im starting to see why guys with BBQ channels have 5-?? grills / smokers!! Time and place for all of em!! Can you really have to many grills???

Have you tried adding in charcoal pellets with your others to add the flavor?

Do some pork ribs & go half mesquite pellets and & charcoal pellets to see if you can taste charcoal, I've never used charcoal pellets, I use b&b lump charcoal on my Oklahoma joe bronco

So between pellets and lump charcoal, which grill uses more resources? Do you have to replenish the charcoal more or the pellets?

Have you had any issues with the amount of heat that the lump coal puts out? I used to use that El Diablo lump coal in a solid brick fire box grill when I lived in an apartment, and the heat of the coals burned a big hole thru the brick over time

Great video, looks so delicious. Is there a distinct difference in cleaning and maintaining either of these? Thanks.

Love the review. I ordered my Masterbuilt a few days ago based on yours and several others review. I’ll be a charcoal guy till I die. Every grill I’ve had has been some form of coal at the bottom design. I really like the idea of the pellet grills, but lack of smoke was the complaint. It really seems like the master built addresses this issue while giving you the pellet configuration. Would I be correct to say that you haven’t done any searing with the Masterbuilt? I’ll check all your videos to look, but if not I would really love to see you do a couple of tomahawks!
