The Generalized Linear Model (GLM) was developed by John Nelder and Robert Wedderburn in the early 1970s. Their work was published in a series of papers, with the most notable being the paper titled "Generalized Linear Models" published in 1972 in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society.
