For last question, Morally logically i do 18000 - 10500 = the amount of money lost after 5 years (7500/5years) . Then i divide 7500 by 5 = $1500 / year. then 18000 / 1500 = 12 years

Hi! Why are you doing y1-y2/x1-x2? In the IB formula booklet they do: y2-y1/x2-x1

Also, you can use with arithmetic sequence method just like when you find the unknown arithmetic sequence through given two known terms.

Ans for the last question: Set up points: (0, 18000) (5, 10500) and (?, 0). Solve for the gradient. (10500-18000)/(5-0)= -1500. Now sub it in the linear equation y=-1500t+18000. Make y=0 and solve for t. Therefore the final ans is t=12 years.

i thought the slope equation was y2-y1/x2-x1 ? so wouldn't it be 5-0 instead of 0-5? I am so confused now

Why is it y1-y2 and x1-x2, isn't it y2-y1 and x2-x1???
