Posting in 2019 w/ a 12.9 inch iPad Pro and Smart Keyboard; for some reason this fix has actually worked for me in eliminating the frustrating software keyboard continuing to appear and the hardware keyboard being unresponsive for text.

How exactly does this work when the keyboard doesn’t work? I tried it anyways knowing my board wasn’t working and sure enough the results were what I thought they would be, no results. Glad it worked for you! Apple care here I come!

I was literally looking into taking my keyboard apart and fixing it with a bunch of tools and stuff but this worked no problem 😭 thank you so much

Wow, that actually did work, but it took a few tries, and I needed to have they on screen keyboard pulled up. I’m not 100% sure b/c my keyboard randomly works then doesn’t work lately. Occasionally my screen will say “accessory not supported”, as well. But, it worked for now so I’m happy- THANK YOU!

Superb! I was beginning to think there was a ‘wire’ problem inside the keyboard. I noticed that the ‘command + H’ was working and then BINGO, ‘command + tab’ worked and all is good again!
