How to Cut Potatoes into French Fries

“Learn The Secrets To Eating REAL Food”

—————

Cutting potatoes for french fries is not as complicated as it may seem. In this video I go over a quick and simple method for cutting fries, as well as five tips when it comes to frying and seasoning your french fries.

Tips:
1. Use a good quality fat. My favorite is lard. It holds up well to heat and has a very mild flavor.
2. Don’t over-fill the fryer. A good ratio to remember is about one pound of oil for every one medium or large potato at a time.
3. Timers don’t work. The amount of time fries need to cook is highly subjective. So it’s best to determine when the fries are done based on color. If you like dark fries, leave them in a little longer.
4. Salt as soon as possible. The salt will cling to the fries best if applied right when you take them out of the oil. The oil should be glistening and still very hot on the fries.
5. Don’t peel the potatoes. The skins provide a great texture for the fries, and they are packed with nutrients that you need to be healthy.

I always used a slap chopper gadget to make fries. This is faster, and no spending time digging out potato bits out of the chopper. Thank you

👍Growing up I used have to make homemade french fries..that was the only option because there was no way my parents were buying fries from any fast food place. 😂
Amazingly I have never ever had the desire to make them homemade….starting with a whole potato, although I have purchased a bag of already sliced potatoes once or twice. Suddenly I hav an urge to make them homemade from a whole potato and I can’t remember how I used to cut them so perfectly as a kid. 😂🤣😆 THANK YOU. 🙏💝

I'm glad to see you understand what a quality fat is. If you would have said lard a few years ago, everybody would have been flipping out telling you how it causes clogged arteries. Of course we now know that's a bunch of nonsense, the "vegetable" oil has been causing the inflammation and clogged arteries. For anyone reading this, just be cautious of supermarket lard, a lot of it is hydrogenated which ruins it and turns it inflammatory.

I liked the video! It’s kind of similar to how I learned to cut french fries from watching Gordon Ramsay. He starts with cutting the potato in half and then basically does what you do to each half.

Thank you for the tutorial. I also sometimes dip mine Heinz 57 sauce or generic equivalent. It’s like ketchup with a kick as the old commercial used to say
