Thanks for the advice!
I don't plan on spending anything, this new wave of cpus (and gpus), reminded me why I didn't upgrade my personal rig for almost 10 years,
Every year, there is a new and better hardware coming.
I do like it because, even if I use Linux on my 10yo homemade PC, I must have a powerful enough laptop for my line of work (for the moment always paid by my employers, so not mine)

Thanks for the advice. For now, I'm sticking with my AMD rig. Really looking forward to seeing what AMD puts out next. And again, what Intel's 13th gen series hold for us.

Seems Intel is only allowing 4800 DDR5 because its easier. They gave no guidance "IF" they will upgrade the Z690 MBs to faster DDR5 speeds. The DDR5 speed is slow slow and when you combine that with the latencies, then DDR4 may make more sense until they improve the DDR5 speed and latencies???

do any of you realize that this is actually a 24core cpu that they are promoting as 8+(8+HT) because the other cores can't handle all the crazy turbo speeds, power consumption and heat? so still they will offer benefits on top of the 8 P cores those 8 E cores because they are all working just in lower speeds.

so the benchmarks:
1)not one to one comparison (especially when some channel do ddr4 vs ddr5)
2) mislead by the Intel marketing
3)show that for a cpu with 24threads they still can't beat performance of high end Ryzen unless they consume a nuclear reactor.
