The 6 Man Valorant Roster Debate (TSM, T1, Heretics, More)

With recent @TSM changes for @valorant including 6th man @brax1wnl, many are wondering if this 6 man roster meta is actually good for teams. With @Sentinels member "Sick" giving his thoughts, and several other teams like @SKTT1 and @TeamHeretics giving it a try.

When t1 league already got a 10 man roster

makes more sense in this game than CSGO i think because of agent roles and subbing ppl or rather agent specialties in and out depending on the map.

I think 6 man is good for new talent, they can grow in a team without having the constant pressure of winning.

C9 white did really well in their last tournament with 6 players on their team. I wonder if it would really work for other teams.

Personally I like it... if a player can’t play a role like sage on Icebox or raze on split u pick up a 6th man that can play those roles or move another player on that role and 6th can take his role

I like how C9white is working on their 6 player roster, depending on maps and compositions they trade players.
Having 6 players makes them able to specialize more in their positions or maps.
Some maps asks for 2 duelists and some maps you can work on a single duelist and with 6 players this change can be made more smoothly.

unlike csgo where you need to perform well to be on the roster in valorant, performance on the certain agents are the factor, if someone is not comfortable to play sage or sova they can put someone who is better in that agents like how heretics rotate niesow rubino and paura.

I have two views on this, I think it’s good for new talent for upcoming players but it seems like they’re just gonna stack more washed NA CS pros on a team. It makes sense to have 6 mans in CS and Valorant to specialize in certain maps or agents but Jake makes a valid point. It can improve competition but it can also makes things bitter because realistically at the end of the day, they’re all competing for a spot. Same applies to sports as well with Baseball, Hockey, etc. If you start under performing, they will Bench you or send you to the minors.

Valorant add 6 agents a year so it's useful for a team to have a 6 man that can master a certain agent to it's fullest potential than have a wide range of agents select but not be as good

Normally I’d say no, it’s tough to build synergy with constant swaps. But tenz showed it’s possible to swap and and instantly produce results. Granted though, not everyone is tenz. But it’s at the very least possible. Thinking about it more, having a bench player swap in for emergencies is a good safety net for orgs and can possible reduce the turnover ripple effects swapping players between teams causes. I see pros and cons of both sides.

Don’t need a 6 man when you have Sick on your team.

From a investment and Team Management point of, A view 6 man roster is kind of a thin thread.
There's a lot of money in Esports but money doesn't grow on trees

That’s life in sports.... basketball teams don’t have 5 man rosters... they have 12 .

just saying Jake, ANS is pronounced ahns. Keep up the content guys :)

6 man works for some roster in league, I know T1 uses a lot of subs. and having subs help you work for that spot. but then again, 6 man rosters barely work in CS. like Astralis plays more with their main 5 than with bubzkji

I definitely think 6 and even 7 and 8 men rosters will be implemented in the future I'm just wondering if they will be more specialized in maps or agents?

Disagree with SicK... this has been a thing in traditional sports for a long time. For example, competition between goalies in hockey only makes them better before one eventually pulls away as the starter. It makes everyone better.

it makes sense to have a sixth man, both on csgo and valorant, because you never know when an emergency, injury, or a controversy, like sinatraa, would arise. To have an extra member to fill in that spot makes a lot of sense, at least that's my take on this whole ordeal.

tbh not a fan of 6 man rosters in the sense of subbing in and out based on map and team comp. I think its a good quality to have to not be stuck to playing 1-3 agents. Having a sub for when someone can't play is understandable imo.
