That's exactly my perspective as well! When you are old, you want to be able to look back on your life and say that at least you experienced solo gamedev and tried, regardless if it was succesful or not.

As a marathon runner and a game dev who wants to go indie one day, that's a great metaphor.
Training for a marathon was fun, but required consistency and the marathon itself was difficult but I'm glad I did it. Game dev has been considerably harder. I'm an experienced programmer, but there's way more skills to master. Here's hoping it's intrinsically rewarding.
