DRAMATIC SCENES AS PHOTO FINISH AND STEWARDS' ENQUIRY CALLED IN THE JEWSON ANNIVERSARY HURDLE

PIED PIPER and KNIGHT SALUTE couldn't be separated by a photo finish and a dead heat was called. The result of a stewards' enquiry then saw the placings altered and KNIGHT SALUTE given the win.

Ansolutely disgusting decision by either corrupt or diluded stewards.... there was minimal, if any, interference and it happened way before the finish and did not affect the progress of Knight Salute.... these are the things that give horse racing a very bad name

There was between 18 to 19 seconds of racing left after the last fence, and the marginal interference, for both horses and jockeys to sprint to the winning line.Was the result affected? Debatable at best.Imho the original result of dead heat should have stood as both horses crossed the line together.These stewards have set a precedence now with their decision as any horse in second place losing by a nose or short head, with the same degree of interference that far from the winning post, will now try their luck and get the result overturned in the stewards' room.I know objectively interpreting the result of any interference is a difficult job, but in this instance the sports' administrators erred.All that will result from today's events, in my view, will be more stewards' enquiries at the end of races and that's not a good thing for the sport.
