I created a group and now i am trying to add alias to my personal gmail but it ask me for SMTP settings?

How do I add an old Gmail as an alias? When I try what all say in my general Gmail page account it wants to do SMTP and won't allow a simple alias. In this Video and many like it, all aliases are with the same new domain ... I want to use my old Gmail in my new Workspace email.
