This is not an alias, this is literally adding another active account and just granted send as permissions. Microsoft's has true alias; GMAIL is far behind....

I think people are assuming that you can create AND add a gmail alias at the same time the way iCloud does. Apparently you have to create a second gmail address first and then you follow these instructions to add it as an alias.

Thank you and I appreciate this video! I did all that you mentioned but gmail never sent my verification email to my primary box. I requested the verification 3 times. Thank you for any further help you can provide.

Hi! First of all, thank you for this simple and direct tutorial!
I have a question, if i make this alias, i can use, my playstore, see my google photos, google drive archives, all the stuff of my main account? Thanks!

Reading though the comments I have to agree this is not an alias, it is linking another google account as an alias. In reality, email alias doesn’t have a mailbox of its own, and instead forwards all mails to the primary email address. As per this method described here you create a new email firstthat has its own inbox etc. this is required to verify the address.

do they share the same inbox? or i should log in to secondary email inbox to find email sent for 2nd email?

This "alias" solution works in 2023.aug only when you want to have couple (2-3) aliases, because every "alias" - as described in here, needs a real account but there is the big BUT. While creating an account you have to verify every account with your phone number and one phone number can be used only once. So if I want to create approx 20 aliases, you have to have 20 accounts with 20 different phone numbers and that's not usual to have 20 different numbers.

Tried last week, and there was not possible to create account while not verifying it with your phone number. Maybe it is region based "feature" or rule (tested in east-europe) can't answer or confirm that.

Hey I would like to know if there is any difference between "Add another email adress", "Add an email account" and "Add another account" ? My primary goal is to manage different profiles on social media and present myself as so to the public. Also with the possibility to view, send, receive mails from only one address (profile), from several addresses (profiles) or from all addresses (profiles) . All those profiles would still fall under one "business" if that makes any sense. Which option do I chose ?

Sorry, but you lost me there my friend. How can I sign into the secondary account to receive the verification message if that account is not yet created? Google doesn't accept the new email address I am trying to create because it doesn't exit. It is a chicken and egg situation: I need the verification message to create the alias account but can't see the message in my alias inbox without logging into it. The video is not clear on that point (unless you have a non-Gmail secondary account that you already use)

So can you only add another gmail address? I have a business address that I want coming over to gmail so its in one place but this is not working for me. I got the point where the yellow box appears and it asks for a password. What password do I put in?

This does not work with virtual email accounts, e.g. those that are created when you have your own website.

This is very helpful! However, I am running into an issue with the verification process. When I go to log in using the new email address, Google is saying it's an invalid email address and I cannot sign into that secondary account. Not sure what to do if it's not recognizing the new email address.

I'm having a really hard time setting up an alias, because as soon as i input all the smtp information and hit 'next' it cycles back to my inbox. Any solutions?

Hey, how can I create an alias email id inside my gmail account? Like, it is associated to my gmail account but has no independent significance as in to login separately. I hope I'm making sense.
