sO i was reading the comments and there were a bunch of ppl sharing what the song made them feel and halfway thru the song i was like "uhm? i still dont get it??" or like "i can't find my interpretation of the song" since i rlly like how stauber's music gives ppl the freedom to make their own interpretation and thats when it hit me @3:37

so heres my breakdown:
the person singing the 1st verse is also the person who keeps repeating the phrase "i understand"
theres another person who says the rest of the lyrics (the chorus)

the person saying "i understand" is a person who is close to the 2nd persona. im guessing that the 2nd persona lives in town while the other guy lives somewhere else. So when he says "when im in town i hold the hand" its kind of like saying i keep in touch with the 2nd persona or basically hang with him. The 2nd persona seems to be too busy to spend time with the person as he says the lyrics that rhyme (cot i better not, pod i met ur god) basically thats him giving excuses or reasons as to why he cant hang and the other person just says "(okay) i understand" and this goes all thru out the song

The song consists mostly of melody and electro synths rather than lyrics, which symbolizes the amount of time wasted when they're not getting the chance to spend time and talk. it also symbolizes the time the person who says "i understand" waits, which is like 2/3 of the song=a very long time. In the 1st verse he says "i mend my heart w/ practice" he is already used to this kind of scenario so he's a veteran at mending his heart. He also says "i bend" which i interpret as "i adjust" so he adjusts and just says "i understand" for the 2nd persona. At the lyric "we live it down and i understand" its basically talking to a 3rd person and confiding his feelings abt the situation.


To simplify all that, its about a person being neglected by someone he just wants to spend time with, but the other person makes no effort in this and he (1st person) just lets it happen without doing smthn abt it ("i understand")

Today was my last day in school, I heard this song when I was in my second year of high school, when I made friends, I knew places and I met the one who is now my girlfriend, now I listen to her when my days in high school are over, it is sad to know that I could not say goodbye to everyone, but hearing this transmits this happiness that is inexplicable, it gives me calm and hope that at the end of the day, we will see each other again, I will miss each and every one of my colleagues, I will miss running down the hallways and driving dad's car so as not to be late, good memories, good times.

This song is weird. I always vaguely remember something when I listen to this song. I remember it when a something ends. I remember it when something new starts.
